Board of Trustees

Pursuant to NJ Law, Bogota Public Library is overseen by a 9-member Board of Trustees. Seven members are appointed by the mayor for a term of 5 years. One member is the Mayor or the Mayor’s liaison. One member is the Bogota School Superintendent or the Superintendent’s liaison.

Rebecca Foster

Rebecca is the Director of Sales Operations for a saas company. She is a member of the Rescue Squad, Chair of the Environmental Commission, Secretary to the Recreation Committee, Police Matron and Vice Chair of the County Committee. Rebecca loves Bogota and couldn’t be prouder to be part of such an amazing community.

Joanne Cursinella

Bogota Resident Since: 1990

Joanne is a retired attorney and editor for a legal publishing company. She has a B.A. from Seton Hall University, a J.D. from Rutgers University and an M.L.S. from Southern Connecticut State University. She loves gymnastics.

Mary Komorowski

Favorite Book: Memory Keeper’s Daughter
Years in Bogota: 36

A retired elementary school teacher, Mary graduated from St. Joseph School and Bogota High School, and raised her four children in Bogota. She served as the Bogota Welfare Director for 25 years and a Bogota Girl Scout leader. Mary was also a member of the Bogota Board of Health, and was honored to be on former County Executive Pat Schuber’s Education Committee. She has a B.A. and an M.A. Mary and her husband, Henry (Town Historian), are grateful they live in such a lovely community where their neighbors are their friends.

Favorite Book: A Confederacy of Dunces
Years in Bogota: 36

Nathan is a criminal defense lawyer . He graduated from Vermont Law School in 1977 and worked as an Assistant Prosecutor in the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office from 1978 until 1981. Nathan also served on the Bogota Board of Education from 2000 until 2003.

Bogota Resident Since: 1983

Eileen was in academic publishing for 18 years before serving as the director of then Bogota Library and the Ridgefield Park Library for 23 years. She has a BA in English (Richmond College) and the MLS (St. John’s University). She served as a Bixby School PTA president, Girl Scout leader and Service Unit Manager, and president of the Bogota Band Parent Organization. Eileen believes that good communities build good public libraries, and good public libraries create good communities.

Carmen Diaz

Bogota Resident Since: 2006

Carmen went to business school before becoming a registered nurse. She has raised her children in Bogota and served on the Recreation Committee. Carmen believes that libraries are important because, for many, it is the window to the world.

Jennifer Van Vugt

Favorite Genre: Realistic Fiction – Children’s
Bogota Resident

Jennifer is a Bogota graduate and resident. She has been an educator for 18 years. She holds a dual Master’s degree in Literacy and Education. She is also a member of the Bixby School PTO. One of her simple joys is reading picture books with her son.
