Using the Library

Get a Library Card

A library card is the best investment you can make in yourself and your family; it opens the door to education, enlightenment and entertainment.

Bogota Public Library cards are free for residents of Bogota, NJ who can show proof of identity and residency. An updated, valid state ID that shows a Bogota address counts for both. New residents may show an official document with name and Bogota address, such as a utility bill, bank statement or lease, as proof of residency.

Library Policies

Library policies exist to ensure a safe, welcoming atmosphere for all.
All policies are approved by the Board of Trustees.

LIBRARY CODE OF CONDUCT

This is the code that we expect all members to adhere to so that we may serve the community without disruption. Unattended children must be able to follow these rules.

UNATTENDED CHILDREN POLICY

We are not staffed nor qualified to be a daycare center. Please read this policy if your children regularly visit the library without supervision.

COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT POLICY

This is the process by which we purchase materials for library use.

LOCAL HISTORY COLLECTION POLICY

The library accepts new material donations on a limited basis. Prior to sending unsolicited donations, contact the library director.

INTERNET USE POLICY

This policy specifies what is and isn’t ok on the library’s computers.

PROGRAM & SPACE USE POLICY

The library runs its own events and sponsors other events run by outside individuals and/or groups. Here is how we decide.

PRIVATE TUTORING POLICY

This policy specifies how private tutoring is to be conducted at the Library.

COMMUNITY PR POLICY

This policy explains what we post on our public bulletin board and browsing table.
